This is an 11 day Annual pilgrimage starting in Sydney with Pilgrims joining from anywhere in Australia or New Zealand. Josephite Sisters from each of the Eastern states, accompany the Pilgrimage at all times and participate with commentary, guidance, prayers and other activities throughout the 11 days. Each Pilgrim receives a Pilgrimage Booklet for use during and after the Pilgrimage plus a Crucifix by which to remember the experience.
The pilgrimage commences in Sydney and spends two days visiting the MacKillop Museum and burial site in Mount Street and other sites of significance around Sydney followed by two days visiting sites of interest in Melbourne - including the MacKillop Centre in East Melbourne and tours past other areas of interest including Mary's birthplace.
From there you travel the Great Ocean Road to Portland for a tour with a local Josephite Sister and then on to Mount Gambier. A day including mass and other activities at Penola, two days in Adelaide then guided tours in Hamilton, Ballarat, Bacchus Marsh then Melbourne and home.
Normally three Josephite Sisters accompany these pilgrimages – one from each State represented plus appropriate Josephite tour guides at each Centre visited. Great fellowship has been enjoyed by the participants and many pilgrims since the first Pilgrimage almost a decade ago.
Detailed itineraries are available from Cardigan Touring Services or any of the Mary MacKillop Centres in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. Contact us at Cardigan Touring Services if you need assistance.
